800/800 Played: Goal Completed

I did it. I played 800 games in a month and maintained my A/B game the majority of the time.

Stats: 807 Games, $236, 5%, $+7,746 (I was -1.5kish in chops so closer to 9k)

I'm very happy with these results. I used to maintain a 7-8% ROI in the 220s, but that probably isn't practical anymore. I have started sitting some "regulars" to help increase my volume. When games are dead, it can be so +ev for me to sit a marginal regular in a 220 because of the chance that I can grab the next lobby after our game opens. It's just not worth it to sit there staring at lobbies for 15 mins. Some of the guys I sit turn out to be pretty solid and might have a slight edge on me, but I would say the majority I am +ev against. 5-6% ROI is probably the max I can expect to maintain longterm against my new field of opponents...hourly is almost definitely higher tho and that's all that really matters.

By completing the 800 games, I avoided having to do the countless hh reviews that I propbet myself and also shipped a $1k propbet with a friend. I wouldn't have made it to 800 games without these 2 things weighing on me all month. Creative motivational ideas ftwww. I promised you all that commented on my original blogpost in April a video...I'll post a link to it as the last comment on that blog post in a few days.

I've always been a proponent of trial and error for finding ways to stay motivated and maintain focus. I am going to try something new in May. I don't think it's practical to grind out 30ish games per day every day of the month with no breaks. I will definitely get burnt out and probably end up playing less in the long term. I'm going to take Mondays and Tuesdays off in May. Action is always dead those days anyways, and I think grinding hard for 5 days and being able to look forward to 2 straight off-days could be very motivating. 2 days off from poker always feels like an eternity and hopefully I will come back fresh and motivated 4 times a month, as opposed to once (I usually get epic motivated going into the first day of each new month). We'll see how it goes.

I rented a beachhouse a few miles outside of Atlantic City from May 1-23. Phmerc is up here until the 6th, then my parents/bro are coming for the rest of the trip. I hate live poker, so I prob won't play that much. I love getting wasted and playing roulette though, so I'll prob donate about 3k on black before this trip is done.

Few goals for more:

800 Games
No more than 15 total chops (I'm only chopping with good friends now...paying $700
in rake per month is -ev)
Take off Mondays and Tuesdays
Don't go busto playing roulette

April: +12,042
2010: +40,132

  1. Lol @ getting wasted & playing roulette... Congratulations on surpassing your goal for April. I think that having a weekend is an excellent idea that will definitely give you an opportunity to rest and come back fresh. Enjoy the beach!
